Tamashii Nations, a Japanese company that produces high-quality collectible figures and toys, celebrated its 15th anniversary by embarking on a world tour in 2023 to showcase its flagship collector brand, Tamashii Nations, in five cities around the world. I had the opportunity to visit the 2023 Tamashii Nations World Tour in New York, where it took place at Grand Central Terminal and Times Square from 28 – 30 April, 2023.
The World Tour featured a range of products from various sub-lines, including SH Figuarts, The Robot Spirits, and Saint Cloth Myth EX Pegasus Seiya. The commemorative event showcased a variety of characters from different franchises, such as Dragonball, Gundam, Spider-Man, and Spider-Gwen.
It was really fun to have access to giant characters that made for perfect photo ops, both in Grand Central and Times Square. While the Times Square pop up was informational, the one in Grand Central had a shop with exclusive merchandize that could be bought at the world tour only. Based on ads I saw in Times Square, it appears that there may be a more permanent Tamashi Nations store opening there soon.
