Holiday Windows in New York

New York City is known for its extravagant holiday window displays that attract millions of tourists every year. From the iconic Rockefeller Center tree to the elaborate window displays at the city’s famous department stores, the holiday season in New York is a magical time when the city’s top retailers compete to create the most eye-catching and elaborate displays to create breathtaking holiday windows in New York. Bergdorf Goodman, Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Tiffany & Co. are just a few of the stores that go all out during the holiday season, transforming their storefronts into winter wonderlands.

The holidays are a great time to visit New York with all the holiday lights in the City and its Hotels. Holiday Windows are a big piece of what makes he holidays special in New York. The best holiday display for me is definitely Bergdorf Goodman, though Saks definitely competes for attention with their holiday light show every year. Here are some holiday displays from over the years.

Bergdorf Goodman Holiday Windows

Bergdorf Goodman, located on Fifth Avenue, is famous for its elaborate and luxurious holiday windows. They manage to outdo themselves every year, and the attention to detail is just amazing.

Here are some of Bergdorf Goodman’s holiday windows dating back to 2014, they just remain absolutely spectacular over the years.

Louis Vuitton Holiday Windows

On the other side of Fifth Avenue from Bergdorf Goodman is Louis Vuitton, and they have in recent years started a tradition of creating a 12 or 14 storeys tall display on their flagship store, which makes for an arresting sight from blocks away. Here are a few from over the years.

Saks Fifth Avenue Light Show and Holiday Windows

Moving on down a few blocks to Saks, their holiday light show is the star of the show by far. The looks stays somewhat similar, but they change the sound and theme up every year.

In 2023, Saks partnered with Dior for Dior’s Carousel of Dreams, which has been their most spectacular holiday light show ever.

In 2022, the holiday light show was all about Elton John, who even performed at the big opening.

The Saks window displays with their Dior collaboration in 2023 were stopping people in their tracks.

Chanel Holiday Windows

I love love love that Chanel has their store wearing their signature necklace in recent years, which makes everyone want to own one all the more.

Tiffany and Co. Holiday Windows

Tiffany does amazing holiday decorations as well. Here are their Andy Warhol themed windows from recent years.

Here is the Tiffany store from 2014 –

Cartier Holiday Lights

Staying on Fifth Avenue, the Cartier store likes to change it up every year, always making for an eye catching holiday display.

Macy’s Holiday Windows

Macy’s always does a great job with their windows, which tend to have an element of motion in them which is both charming and captivating.

Here is a view of their store on 34th Street during the holidays.

Breitling Holiday Windows

The Brietling store has a whole theme of Santa on Land, Santa on Water and Santa in Air for their displays. They even have a life size Santa with a surfboard in their store!

Lord and Taylor Holiday Lights

Lord and Taylor has been gone from Manhattan for a long long time, but their holiday windows were always showstoppers, even when there was scaffolding outsude their store. Here are some pictures from 2015, where they managed to turn the ugly sidewalk scaffolding into a holiday walkway into a winter wonderland.

And last but not least, this is so not a holiday display, but this person dressed as a Christmas tree definitely deserves a window of their own!
