Central Park
Central Park is a haven within Manhattan, touching the lives of New Yorkers and visitors alike. A seemingly natural refuge within a concrete jungle, it is easy to forget that it is man made like the rest of Manhattan given the thought, foresight and planning that went into designing and building it. I love that the paths in Central Park are winding by design to make visitors forget about the grid that is Manhattan, and the new vistas that reveal themselves as you round the corner in different seasons. I love that while the rest of the park is landscaped, the Ramble was designed to let nature take its course, giving it a completely different feel from the rest of the park. And that the bridges that add so much character to the Park were originally designed to allow different types of traffic to cross each other at different levels – footpaths, carriageways and bridle paths.
There are a lot of fun facts about Central Park that I have learnt – and photographed – over the years, and each fact elevates my visits to the Park, feeling like I am in on a secret that not everyone is aware of. I am going to share some of these with you, and hopefully keep adding to these as I learn about them myself.
It took me a while to figure out how I should organize my ramble (pun intended!) of thoughts and photographs about Central Park, so here goes –

- Central Park off the beaten path
Where there is a will, there is a way.
True words indeed!
