Art Sundae

Art Sundae by Max Colby

I was walking past Rockefeller Plaza last week, and noticed a red window that looked like a store window, but wasn’t selling anything that I recognized. So I stepped closer and saw that it was actually an art installation!

Named Art Sundae, it is a collaboration between children and Brooklyn-based artist Max Colby to create a public art installation. Children were given the opportunity to create their own sculptural icons with repurposed materials including fabrics, flowers, toys, and trims etc. Free-standing objects created by children at the workshop are presented on top of pre-made pillows by Colby. You can see the area around reflected in the pictures as the installation is behind glass.

I am glad I stumbled upon this, it is a really fun exhibit!
